Blue has been adopted
Posted by Administrator - 15/11/09 at 10:11 pmUpdate 12/7/09: Blue is in his new home. We are very happy for Blue and his new family, and we hope his foster-mom isn’t too sad and lonely without him!

The first 16 weeks of Blue’s life were extremely difficult. During that time he was abandoned by 2 families, which has left him with severe separation anxiety. The second home crated him 18 hours a day. Blue had no choice, but to use his crate to go to the bathroom. He tried to claw his way out of the crate fracturing one of his front toes which had to be amputated when he was recently neutered.

Blue’s foster family has nurtured him in a structured loving home that has provided him with private active daycare and a trainer to help him deal with his separation anxiety. Blue has tried to jump through a glass window and shower door in order to get near his foster mom. Blue has developed food allergies and will require a special diet. He may require allergy testing and desensitization injections for the rest of his life.

Blue recently started a medication ‘Reconcile’ to help support his efforts with his behavior trainer. Blue is recovering and ready to move to his forever where he can continue to work on his presenting issues including support to make his house training successful. He recently learned to use the dog door in his foster home which has helped make his house training more successful.

Blue is a kind, loving, smart, and well-behaved boy that gets along with all children, dogs, and people. He is a Special Needs dog that will always need financial and emotional support from his family. He would do best in a home with previous Dalmatian experience, at least one adult that stays or works from home, a high level of structured activities and/or private daycare, and a task for Blue – such as Agility Training. A fenced yard with a 6 foot high fence is a requirement.

Do you have a Spot in your heart for Blue? If so, please contact Blue’s foster mom — Gail at — 425.533.5024 or easytospot@gmail.com — for further information, application, arrangements for a home visit and introduction.

Dalmatian Rescue of Puget Sound is looking for volunteers in the Seattle area, and throughout Washington State, Oregon and Idaho, who are willing to provide foster or adoptive homes to Dalmatians in need. We also need volunteers to help with transportation, and to work with shelters to identify and evaluate at risk dogs. Please
