Cal — adopted

Cal

This is the sweet face of Cal, from California. He was found wandering as a stray in Crescent City, and taken to the local shelter, where they called him Spot. They noticed that he had some health problems that they couldn’t help him with, so they listed him on Petfinder, and started contacting rescue groups. The California rescue groups are swamped with Dals in need, so we agreed to take him. A wonderful group of people worked together to chauffeur him from California to Washington.

Cal

We don’t know how old Cal is, but we estimate his age at 8 or 9. He is young at heart, with plenty of energy, and a few things to learn. He loves to play tennis ball, and he takes treats very gently from your hand. He can be noisy when nervous, but he has improved a great deal since he arrived. He is submissive and eager to please. He gets along well with other dogs, and ignores the cat.

Cal

Cal has arthritis in his forelegs and feet, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. We had a cancerous tumor removed from his rectum. He also has skin cancer on his flank. We will have it surgically removed when we have him neutered.

Cal

Cal will not be available for adoption until he has recovered from his next surgery. We would love to find a foster home that would be willing to attend to his medical needs, and also help him learn how to behave in the house, and how to walk nicely on a leash. Be warned, if you foster him, it will be difficult to give him up. He is a very lovable boy.

If you would like to help Cal, but can’t foster or adopt him, please consider making a donation toward his medical care.
