November 23 — I’m happy to report that Mimi has gone to her new home, and rumor has it her tail has not stopped wagging!

Mimi is waiting for her new home at the Homeward Pet adoption centerMimi is a very sweet girl of 6, who was found wandering as a stray in Kent. She was taken in by the good people at Homeward Pet. They removed a malignant mammary mass and 8 teeth. She was very thin when they found her, but she has gained a little weight and is looking much better. She has been at the shelter since September 29. They are taking great care of her, but I don’t think that life in the shelter is agreeing with her. Like many Dalmatian princesses, Mimi needs a place and a person to call her own.

MimiWhen I visited her yesterday, she didn’t even bother to look up when we approached her. She seemed indifferent when a treat was offered. She did perk up a bit when I entered her kennel, and sat next to her bed. She was very calm, but clearly enjoyed having her ears rubbed. She kissed my face before I left, and I promised her I would find her a home. Please help me keep that promise.

The shelter reports that Mimi doesn’t respond favorably to children or cats, but she is OK with dogs. Based on her very calm demeanor, I suspect she would be fine with calm, older dogs, but not with high strung or playful dogs. She still has two teeth that need to be removed by a dental specialist, and she will require lifelong cancer screening.

You can visit Mimi at the Homeward Pet adoption center in Woodinville. Visit her profile on Petfinder.com.

Mimi is up on her feet, and ready to go to her forever home

We visited Mimi again last night, and were happy to see her up and about, wagging her tail to greet us. The director said she is normally pretty alert, and was surprised by her behavior. He also said she becomes visibly stressed at the approach of small children, as if she is afraid of them. He also said she loves to go for walks. Do you know someone who needs an exercise partner? Tell them about Mimi!
